Options for relapsing prostate cancer

These options are second line therapy. This is not a comprehensive list. My purpose of posting it here so that readers can have a glimpse of what they are.

1. Alternative endocrine manipulations.

(a) Orchidectomy

(b) Oestrogen

(c) Progestins and Progestational Antiandrogens

(d) Surgical adrenalectomy and hypophysectomy

(e) Medical adrenal suppression.  Several drugs are available such as aminoglutethimide, trilostane, ketoconazole,

(f) Antiandrogens.

(g) Other hormones or drugs with hormonal  effects, eg calcitonin, spironolactone, diphosphanates, and  tamoxifen

2. Chemotherapy

3. Combination of Endocrine and cytotoxic Regimens

4. New Drugs. Examples are suramin, R.75251,

5. Radiation therapy.

6. General antitumour and supportive care
