| Many smokers believe they are
physically and psychologically addicted to smoking, but the fact is they are addicted
to Nicotine.
Nicotine provides the addiction, not smoking. Contrary
to popular believe nicotine may be good for you.
Why is this so? Hard to believe! Right.
We all know that smoking kills. It's a medically proven fact
but nicotine is not the killer in cigarette smoking. The killer is
some of the other 4,000 odd chemicals including:
acetylene, cyanide, nitrogen oxide, and carbon monoxide. All
these chemicals are known poisons and there some 40 chemicals that
can cause death and disease including cancer.
Nicotine is not one of the killers. It has never been proven to
cause cancer or any other disease. In fact ongoing medical
research on nicotine is looking into its potential health
benefits!
Is Nicotine healthy?
Nicotine is known to affect the neuron transmitters in the
brain and improve mood, attention and memory. It is therefore
being researched to treat various conditions including:
Depression, Attention disorders, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's
disease to name a few.
Contrary to popular believe most of us consume Nicotine in
minor amounts in everyday
foods. Nicotine is found in a number
of common everyday foods including:
Vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers,
cauliflower, eggplant, chili peppers, and even some teas.
Its part of the natural food chain and in its organic form is
safe and non toxic.
So what does the above mean?
It means that smokers who suffer cold turkey and nicotine
withdrawal to try and give up smoking don't need to.
There are a number of nicotine replacement products that allow you to get a dose
of nicotine without smoking and they include:
Puffers, inhalers, patches and gum.
The fact is using the above will double your chances of
success.
There has been a lot of medical research into providing non
smokers with nicotine for its health benefits and the first
products are being used in the market with reasonable degree of
success.
Nicotine in water is one such product, which was originally
marketed to smokers when they couldn't or didn't wish to smoke and
its now being taken by people for its potential health benefits.
If you understand the above you can see where the addiction
comes from and that you can satisfy your craving and maybe even
get some potential health benefits as well.
Myths or facts!
It is a myths to believe that Nicotine is a killer. This is
like saying that because grapes are used to make wine and people
die of alcohol poisoning, we shouldn't take grapes!
The analogy is flawed from the very beginning..
With huge resources being poured into research into organic
nicotine and its potential health benefits, these attitudes are
starting to change. And the image of nicotine is improving.. |
